Gary Neville slams Marcus Rashford for taking 12-hour flight to see a NBA game

Former Manchester United captain, Gary Neville has criticized Marcus Rashford for travelling on a 12-hour flight to watch a basketball game in the United States during the recent international break.

Neville believes that the Manchester United forward is not being professional for engaging in a long trip despite having a bad start to the season.

While the former defender understands that Rashford needs a mental break, travelling that far is not a sign of professionalism.

“Professionalism, looking after your body and making sure you’re best prepared for the next training session is critical to every decision you make during the season.

“He [Rashford] has got a mental break, he’s got to get away and has got to rest with friends, but you’ve got to think about venue, how far do you fly, what’s the time difference, is that going to give a jet lag issue, is that going to give a stiffness issue from being on a flight for 12 hours?

“If you are talking about the minor details in being as professional as you can be and as prepared you can be for a training session, that isn’t the best choice of venue.

Marcus Rashford alongside his close friend and former Manchester United academy graduate Ro-Shaun Williams were on courtside when the New York Knicks took on Brooklyn Nets on Friday night.

England’s interim boss Lee Carsley didn’t select Rashford in the Three Lions squad for the Euro Nations League against Greece and the Republic of Ireland.

Marcus Rashford took part in Ruben Amorim’s first training session on Monday as the new coach prepare his team for his first match at Ipswich this Sunday.
