Ghana booked their place in the semi-finals of the CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations with a 4-2 penalty shootout win over Algeria, following a goalless draw after extra time at Stade Mohamed V in Casablanca.
The quarter-final clash was a cagey affair, with both teams showing strong defensive discipline. Ghana thought they had gone ahead through Stella Nyamekye in the first half, but her goal was disallowed after a VAR review for offside.

Despite efforts from Doris Boaduwaa, Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah, and Evelyn Badu, Ghana couldn’t find a breakthrough. Algeria also created chances, led by Ghoutia Karchouni and Marine Dafeur, but Ghana goalkeeper Cynthia Konlan made several key saves to keep the score level.
In the shootout, Konlan was the hero, saving penalties from Dafeur and Inès Belloumou. Josephine Bonsu, Boaduwaa, Boye-Hlorkah, and Badu all converted their spot-kicks for Ghana, sealing a 4-2 victory and a spot in the final four.
