Arsenal legend, Ian Wright has publicly advocated for the club to pursue Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, highlighting his recent achievements and potential to bolster the Gunners’ attacking options.
Speaking on his podcast, Wrighty’s House, Wright praised Lookman’s journey from his early days at Charlton Athletic to his current success at Atalanta.
He emphasized Lookman’s resilience and determination, noting his hat-trick in the Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen and his recognition as the African Player of the Year.
“I hope we can buy him, Arsenal,” Wright expressed. “I remember him from Charlton, it didn’t work out [the] £10million [move] to Everton, then moving all over the place, the journey from loan to this, then I think that’s one of the most devastating performances I’ve seen in any final with that hat-trick he scored.

“You know, it’s just… I can’t help but look at his dark moment where it would have been dark for him. You know, especially all those loans going to another country.
“And you know what? He never had no problem going wherever he needed to go to find it. And then obviously, like you say, you find your place. Like Scott McTominay’s found that, like he [Lookman] found with Atalanta.
“I would love someone like him to come back to the Premier League and say, ‘listen, I have unfinished business here so I am going to help Arsenal win the league.”
Lookman’s impressive form has not gone unnoticed, with reports indicating that Arsenal has shown interest in the winger.
However, Atalanta has set a valuation of around £50 million for the 27-year-old, and some Arsenal officials have expressed concerns about his age and whether he has already peaked.
In addition to Arsenal, other top European clubs, including Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain, have been linked with Lookman. Despite this, Atalanta’s president has stated that the club does not intend to sell the player in the current transfer window.
