Folashade Ijamilusi has earned her first call-up to the Super Falcons squad for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The 24-year-old forward, who currently plays for Liaoning Baiye FC in China, has been rewarded for her strong performances at both club and national levels.
Ijamilusi first caught the eye during a friendly match against Algeria in October 2024, where she scored a hat-trick in Nigeria’s 4–1 win.
She continued to impress in the domestic league with Robo Queens and Edo Queens, winning the Golden Boot and helping Edo Queens to the WAFU-B Women’s Champions League title in Côte d’Ivoire.
She also featured in the CAF Women’s Champions League with Edo Queens, scoring in their 3–0 win over CBE FC before the team was eliminated in the semifinals. Her rise earned her a move to China in early 2025, and now she is set to represent Nigeria in her first major international tournament.
Ijamilusi expressing gratitude for the opportunity, said: “I’d say I feel grateful to be among the team and since it’s my first time, I’m blessed … My expectation is to have a good outing with the team and also win the WAFCON by God’s grace.”
Nigeria, 11-time champions, will begin their WAFCON campaign in Group B against Tunisia, Botswana, and Algeria.
