German forward of Nigerian descent Karim Adeyemi has reportedly agreed personal terms with Barcelona ahead of a potential move to the reigning Spanish champions.
Barcelona have made their move for Karim Adeyemi and have sent an official bid to Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday for the versatile forward.
Adeyemi has made it clear he won’t sign a new deal at Dortmund and that he only wants the move to Barca.
Adeyemi’s current contract at Signal Iduna Park runs until 2027, and he has reportedly informed Dortmund of his desire to leave after talks over an extension broke down. That leaves the Bundesliga club facing a straightforward choice: sell now or risk losing him for nothing next year.
Money remains the sticking point. Barcelona have offered €20 million, while Dortmund are holding out for €40 million.
Hansi Flick is pushing hard for the deal and has already discussed his project and expectations directly with Adeyemi. Flick and Adeyemi worked together with the Germany national team, and that relationship gives the coach an inside track on the player.
Adeyemi’s numbers back up the interest. He finished the season with 10 goals and six assists for Dortmund, fans and pundits rank him among the fastest players in Europe, and he continues to sharpen his playmaking and finishing while playing either flank.
Should the two clubs finalise terms in time, Adeyemi could join Barcelona’s pre-season squad as early as next Monday.
Having signed Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United before the World Cup, Adeyemi’s potential arrival could see him start on the left flank while the Englishman plays as a centre forward.
