Super Eagles captain, Wilfred Ndidi, has given the head coach of the team, Eric Chelle, full support to stay in his job after the Africa Cup of Nations.

Ndidi told the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to back the Franco-Malian manager even though the Super Eagles failed to reach the final of the competition.

The Besiktas midfielder showered praises on the 48-year-old manager in a pre-match press conference on Friday ahead of the third-place match against the Pharaohs of Egypt.

Ndidi addressed the media in Nigerian pidgin English as he revealed the team is behind the manager, and the Football Federation must ensure there is continuity in the national team.

The Super Eagles captain shared his thoughts when asked what the future holds for the team after the Africa Cup of Nations.

“Make I switch to broken (pidgin) English, Being the captain na great privilege for me. But I dey receive plenty support from other leaders in the team as well as from the coach. This team, I am very proud of. For the future, the thing wey we need na continuity and I will say they (the Football Federation) should keep the coach because he’s a wonderful manager. I will say it in front of everyone for free. Make we no go try to change things now say because we no reach final (of the AFCON).”

Meanwhile, Wilfred Ndidi returns to the team after missing out of the semi-final against Morocco due to first, suspension and, incidentally, an Harmstring injury.
