The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has directed members of the Super Falcons technical crew to step down from their positions with immediate effect.
The decision was announced by the NFF Executive Committee on Monday, August 17, 2026, in a brief notice issued through the federation’s official channels.
The federation did not state a specific reason for the directive in its announcement. However, the decision comes after a difficult campaign for the Super Falcons, who exited the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations at the quarter-final stage following a 1–0 defeat to Cameroon.
The setback was compounded by Nigeria’s failure to secure a place at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup through the subsequent qualification route.
The technical crew was led by head coach Justin Madugu, alongside his assistants and other backroom staff. Reports have identified Madugu and the technical team as those affected by the NFF directive.
The NFF’s announcement signals the beginning of a major change in the leadership of the Super Falcons as the federation looks ahead to the team’s next assignment.
