Nigeria ends AFCON 2025 qualifiers with shock defeat to Rwanda

The Super Eagles of Nigeria suffered a shock 1-2 loss to the Amavubi of Rwanda in their final 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier played on Monday, November 18, 2024.

The Super Eagles led by Augustine Eguavoen already secured a spot at the AFCON in Morocco next year before their last match against the Cheetahs of Benin Republic.

Rwanda on the other hand were desperate for a ticket to the AFCON after they suffered a 0-1 loss at home to the Mediterranean Knight of Libya in matchday 5.

The Super Eagles with first-choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, regulars Ola Aina and Ademola Lookman were unable to break the Rwandans as the first half ended goalless.
