Nigeria U-20 international Shakirat Moshood has completed a move to Portuguese side Sport Clube União Torreense on a two-year deal from Nigeria Women Football League champions Bayelsa Queens.
The 19-year-old forward becomes the latest Nigerian talent to secure a move to Europe following an impressive rise in both domestic and youth international football.
Moshood leaves Bayelsa Queens after playing a key role in the club’s recent success, helping them capture the NWFL title. Her performances at youth level have also earned widespread recognition, with the youngster contributing to Nigeria’s triumph at the CAF WAFU B U-20 Girls’ Cup.
Widely regarded as one of the country’s brightest prospects, Moshood’s transfer represents another significant step in her burgeoning career as she prepares to test herself in Portuguese football.
Torreense, who have continued to strengthen their women’s team with emerging talents from across the globe, will be hoping the Nigerian can add quality and attacking flair ahead of the new season.
For Moshood, the transfer gives her the opportunity to continue her development in Europe while enhancing her chances of breaking into the senior Super Falcons setup in the coming years.
Her transfer also shows the growing pathway for Nigerian women’s footballers, with an increasing number of players making the switch from the NWFL to clubs across Europe.
Moshood is expected to link up with her new teammates in the coming days as preparations for the 2026/27 campaign gather pace.
