Norwegian club Lillestrøm SK (LSK) have completed the signing of highly-rated Nigerian forward Seun Akanji on a long-term contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2030.
LSK secured an option to sign Akanji after he impressed during a trial with the club as a 16-year-old in January 2025. Having now turned 18, the Nigerian has officially completed his move and has already begun training with his new teammates.
Speaking after putting pen to paper, Akanji expressed his excitement at joining the Norwegian side.
“I am incredibly happy to be here. Signing for a fantastic club like this means so much to me. It is a dream come true, and I am ready to give everything I have for the club,” the 18-year-old said.
Akanji also revealed he has quickly settled into life at LSK after his first training sessions with the team.
“It was exciting to be here on trial before. Now I am very happy, and above all proud, to sign a contract with LSK. I have had a great start and have been warmly welcomed by both my teammates and the coaching staff,” he added.
LSK sporting director Espen Olsen said the club had been eager to complete the move after the Nigerian attacker caught the eye during his trial nearly 18 months ago.
“Seun impressed us greatly when he came on trial as a 16-year-old in January 2025. Now he is finally officially an LSK player, and we are really looking forward to helping him develop further here at the club. He is an exciting and explosive player with great potential,” Olsen said.
The move marks the first European club contract of Akanji’s career as the promising Nigerian forward begins his professional journey in Norway with one of the country’s most established clubs.
