Nottingham Forest have confirmed the appointment of Oliver Glasner as the club’s new head coach ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The Austrian tactician arrives at the City Ground with an impressive résumé, having established himself as one of Europe’s most highly regarded coaches through his attacking philosophy and success in both domestic and continental competitions.
Glasner becomes one of only three managers to have won both the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Conference League. His achievements also include domestic silverware in England, highlighting his ability to build competitive teams at the highest level.
Before his move to Forest, Glasner led VfL Wolfsburg to qualification for the UEFA Champions League before guiding Eintracht Frankfurt to Europa League glory in the 2021/22 campaign, ending the German club’s wait of more than 40 years for a major European trophy.
He later enjoyed success in England, winning the FA Cup during his first full Premier League season before adding the Community Shield and the UEFA Conference League in the following campaign.
Speaking after his appointment, Glasner expressed his excitement about taking charge of the two-time European champions.
“I’m delighted to join Nottingham Forest as head coach,” Glasner said.
“From my first conversations with the owner and the leadership team, it was clear they have a strong vision for the club and complete belief in me and my staff. Nottingham Forest is a club with incredible history and passionate supporters. I’m excited about what we can achieve together.”
The Austrian added that his immediate priority would be meeting the players and staff as preparations begin for the new season.
Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis welcomed the appointment, describing Glasner as the ideal coach to lead the club’s long-term ambitions.
“In our discussions with Oliver, it was clear that we share the same vision and ambition,” Marinakis said.
“He has consistently shown he can build outstanding teams and deliver success against the strongest competition. Our ambition is not simply to compete but to win major honours and establish Nottingham Forest among the leading clubs in England and Europe once again.”
Glasner will now oversee pre-season preparations as Forest look to build on their recent progress and challenge for honours under their new manager.
