The National Sports Commission has formally established the Local Organizing Committee for the Games in an effort to host a successful second edition of the African Youth Games, known as Abuja 2027.
With the explicit goal of hosting the greatest youth games ever held on the continent, Mallam Shehu Dikko, the chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), officially launched the 28-member committee.
The chairman reassured the rest of Africa and ANOCA of the federal government’s commitment to organize an international-grade game and guaranteed the LOC of the commission’s full support to fulfill the assigned task.
He said, “I congratulate all the LOC members on their appointments, knowing full well that you all have been entrusted with a serious national assignment.
“Your work will require planning, coordination, transparency and teamwork for the desired success to be achieved”.
“I want to assure all our African partners and stakeholders that Abuja 2027 will be safe, well organised and memorable for all our young athletes”.

Honorable Bukola Olopade, the NSC’s director general, stated that the organization’s RHINSE (Renewed Hope Initiative for Nigeria Sports Economy) program, which places a high priority on sports production, aligns nicely with hosting the African Youth Games in 2027.
Lekan Abari, chairman of the recently established LOC, commended the NSC’s leadership, which includes Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko and Director General Hon. Bukola Olopade for the current sporting revival in Nigeria and promised that his committee would work diligently and openly to produce the greatest African Youth Games ever.
Chairman Lekan Abari, Deputy Chairman Bar Musa Amadu, Secretary Sagaya Abdulmumeen, Dr. Ibrahim Abdul, Sabina Chikere, Arc Adamu Tanimu, Olubunmi Ola-Oluode, Dr. Lydia Gbagi, Olufunke Florence Olu-young, Dr. Oba Funsho Usman, Chief Victor Onogagamue, and Farouk Yarma are among the committee members.
