Polish striker Robert Lewandowski is set to continue his career in Major League Soccer after reaching an agreement to join Chicago Fire FC, with the deal expected to be completed early next week.
The 37-year-old forward reportedly made the decision after visiting both the club and the city two weeks ago, where he met with club officials to discuss the sporting project. The visit played a key role in convincing the former Barcelona star to make the move to the United States.
Lewandowski is now expected to sign his contract in the coming days, bringing an end to weeks of speculation over his future following his departure from Barcelona. Chicago Fire had been pushing to land the veteran striker, with head coach Gregg Berhalter previously confirming the club’s interest in signing the Polish international.
The move will see one of Europe’s most prolific goalscorers begin a new chapter in MLS. Throughout his career, Lewandowski has enjoyed remarkable success with clubs including Borussia Dortmund, FC Bayern Munich and FC Barcelona, winning multiple league titles and individual awards while establishing himself as one of the greatest strikers of his generation.
Once the paperwork is finalized, Lewandowski is expected to become one of the biggest signings in Chicago Fire’s history and another marquee addition to Major League Soccer.
