Victor Osimhen scored the decisive goal as Galatasaray secured a derby-day delight victory over Besiktas on Saturday evening.
The Super Eagles striker scored with a thumping header into the middle of the goal from a sublime cross from Leroy Sane.
Osimhen’s goal was scrutinised by the video assistant referee after he appeared to be in an offside position before the cross came in.
However, after reviewing the incident, his goal stood to put Galatasaray into the lead in the 39th minute of the match.
Leroy Sane’s time on the pitch came to an end in the 62nd minute after making a rash challenge on a Besiktas player which saw the champions played with 10 men for over 40 minutes.
Despite having a man advantage, Wilfred Ndidi’s Besiktas couldn’t breach the defense of Galatasaray as the defending champions picked a vital win away from home in the race to defend their title.
Meanwhile, Osimhen’s goal takes home to 11,seven goals behind his countryman, Paul Onuachu who leads the chart with 18.
Galataasaray remains inn top of the Turkish Super Lig with 61 points – five more than eternal rivals, Fenerbache having played a match more than the latter.
