Osimhen scores as Galatasaray qualify for Europa League playoffs after loss to Ajax

Victor Osimhen scored his fifth Europa League goal of the season as Galatasaray fell to a 2-1 loss to Ajax

Victor Osimhen registered his fifth Europa League goal of the season as Galatasaray fell.to a 2-1 defeat to Ajax Amsterdam on Thursday night.

The Super Eagles striker scored from a rebound  in added time to reduce the deficit.

Osimhen had quite an impressive performance as he got involved in play and registered a shot on target before finding the back of the net.

Burkina Faso forward Bertrand Traore gave Ajax the lead on the 23rd minute off a rebound from Chuba Akpom’s shot.

Ajax Amsterdam and Galatasaray qualify for Europa League playoffs

Galatasaray had three shots on target in the first half but didn’t convert any as they attempt to get back into the game.

Victor Osimhen has the chance to equalize for the visitors on the 18th minute but his header from Baris Uilmaz’s sailed over the post.

Ajax Amsterdam doubled their lead thirteen minutes into the second half.

Kian Fitz-Jim in acres of space in the box, received a nice pass, controlled it before unleashing a shot into the back of the net.

Galatasaray continued to press forward but Remko Pasveer in goal for Ajax stood his ground as he showed great reflex to stop Gabriel Sara’s shot from crossing the goalline.

The match ended 2-1 as Ajax and Galatasaray qualify for the playoffs of the competition with 13 points respectively.
