Poland avoided a third consecutive defeat as they forced Nigeria’s Super Eagles to a draw in Warsaw on Wednesday night.
Przemyslaw Wisniewski powered a ferocious strike in the final seconds of the tie to help Poland seal a 2-2 draw against Nigeria.
Tarem Moffi put Nigeria ahead in the 23rd minute after a VAR review of his goal. The FC Porto striker got the end of Moses Simon’s square pass and tapped the ball into the back of the net.
Eighteen-year-old Kacper Potulski restored parity for the hosts as he stuck his foot towards Nicola Zalewski’s shot into a crowded Super Eagles box.
The first half was characterised by sloppy play from both sides as neither side got hold of the game.
However, Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle made wholesale changes in the second half which saw the introduction of Paul Onuachu, Raphael Onyedika, Calvin Bassey, Rafiu Durosinmi, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, and Philip Otele.
The Super Eagles looked more lively and sharp as they pressed the hosts high in their own half as they attempted to restore their lead.
One of the series of attacking plays led to a penalty as a Polish player handled the ball in his own box.
Paul Onuachu stepped up and converted to give Nigeria the lead with fifteen minutes to the end of the match.
The Super Eagles protected their lead until the final kick of the game when Wisniewski’s strike landed in the back of the net.
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles remain undefeated in regular time in 19 matches as they take on Portugal next week.
