Barcelona are reportedly the team in prime position to land the coveted signing of Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams.
According to Spanish outlet SPORT, several prominent players within the Barcelona squad are actively urging the club’s leadership to secure the young winger’s signature.
This marks the second consecutive summer in which Williams has been a focal point of transfer speculation in Catalonia.
However, the circumstances surrounding this year’s discussions differ notably from last year’s.
Momentum intensified following a pivotal meeting between Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, and Williams’ agent, Felix Tainta.
Despite reported interest from Bayern Munich and Chelsea, Williams appears determined to make the switch to Camp Nou.
Nico Williams has a strong connection with Barcelona players
Adding to the intrigue is Williams’ close relationship with several current Barcelona players, particularly Lamine Yamal and Alejandro Balde.
Both young stars have publicly expressed their desire to see Williams join the team at Camp Nou for the upcoming season.
Behind the scenes, Nico has reportedly received messages from others in the dressing room, too, including Pau Cubarsi, Fermin, and Dani Olmo.
