Benjamin Sesko came off the bench to grab a late winner for Manchester United over Fulham as Michael Carrick continued his brilliant interim run at the club.

Old Trafford erupted into a loud, ear-deafening noise as the Slovenian striker buried the ball into the top corner to seal the win for the host.

Casemiro and his countryman, Matheus Cunha, had given Manchester United a 2-0 lead, one in each half, leading into the final quarter of the game.

A lapse in concentration gave the host a lifeline as Raul Jimenez scored from a penalty in the 85th minute.

Three minutes later, Benjamin Sesko controlled a fine pass from Bruno Fernandes in the box, turned and rifled the ball into the top-right corner to give Manchester United a 3-2 win.

Manchester United returns to the fourth spot with 41 points.

Manchester City missed the chance to reduce Arsenal’s lead to four points at the top of the table.

Despite taking a two-goal lead courtesy of Ryan Cherki and new signing, Antoine Semenyo, Manchester City relinquished their advantage.

Dominic Solanke bagged a second-half brace to secure a point for the host in front of their fans as Manchester City’s title hopes further drift away.

The result leaves Pep Guardiola’s men six points behind Arsenal and a point ahead of Aston Villa, who lost to 10-man Brentford at Villa Park on Sunday afternoon.
