Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan have warned supporters against any form of violence, threats or abuse directed at the club’s officials, as the Oluyole Warriors struggle through a difficult start to the Nigeria Premier Football League season.
Management issued the warning in a statement on Friday. It thanked fans for their loyalty at home and away but said the club will not tolerate intimidation or verbal and physical abuse against anyone in the football family. That covers everyone from the executive chairman to the technical adviser, coaches, backroom staff and players.
Fans who cross the line will be banned from matches immediately, the club said, and offenders could be reported to law enforcement agencies. Supporters remain free to voice their grievances, management added, provided they use the appropriate channels and stay within the law according to a statement on the club’s official X page.
The warning follows a run of poor results that included a 4-2 defeat to Enyimba and a goalles draw at home to Kano Pillars. Some fans have called for the dismissal of head coach Salisu Yusuf. The club also asked for patience and insisted the campaign is far from lost. “This is a challenging period, but the season is still young,” management said.
Football psychologist Kehinde Adeyemi made a similar appeal this week, urging supporters to stop personal attacks on Yusuf and the club’s sporting director, Tobi Adepoju. Adeyemi blamed wasteful finishing, not poor organisation, for the slump, and he defended Adepoju’s role. “The Sporting Director does not sit on the bench with the coaches,” he said.
The Oluyole Warriors are away at Kun Khalifa on Sunday and will hope to get a win to ease tensions at the club after a difficult few weeks on and ff the pitch.
