Nigeria’s Junior DTigress lost their second classification match to South Korea at the ongoing FIBA Under-19 World Cup in Czech Republic.
The Junior DTigress are already out of the competition but are competing in the classification games to determine their final ranking at the end of the tournament.
After an impressive 10-point win over Argentina in their first classification tie on Friday, the Junior DTigress suffered a narrow loss to South Korea on Saturday afternoon.
It was quite a close affair as both teams won two quarters each with the South Koreans edging the tie in the third quarter.
The Junior DTigress had a impressive opening two quarters as the first half ended 42-39 in favour of the Koreans.
However, the Nigerian ladies struggled from the free thrown like in the quarter as they made just 50% of their attempts.
The South Koreans were devastating from the three points line as they made five of their eight attempts as the they won the third quarter 27-18.
While the Nigerian ladies recorded 100% from the free throw line, they struggled to dominate the paint as well as shooting three points.
Despite winning the final quarter 22-17, the South Koreans won the tie 85-79.
Wandoo Hembam and Nora Ezike led in points for the Junior DTigress with 19 and 18 points each.
The Junior DTigress will take on China tomorrow as they wrap up their classification matches at the tournament.
