Nigeria’s DTigress lost their second game at the ongoing FIBA World Cup qualifiers against South Korea on Thursday afternoon.
The DTigress started the series with a comfortable win over Colombia on Wednesday but fell to the Asians who dominated the tie across all quarters.
Nigeria entered the tie on the back of three consecutive wins over the Asians but failed to extend their streak to four wins.
South Korea showed earlier dominance as they went on a six-point run to finish the the first quarter 20-16.
The second quarter was quite close as both teams tied on 16-points apiece. However, the DTigress struggled with shooting from the paint as they recorded just 40% while South Korea had 71%.
Nigeria improved on their shooting in the third quarter but lost the quarter by three points as South Korea slowly pulled away.
The final quarter was underwhelming for the reigning African champions as they were reduced to just nine points as the South Koreans sealed a 77-60 victory.
Once again Victoria Macaulay was the standout performer for the DTigress as she poured in 22 points while Murjanatu Musa had 10 points.
Ezinne Kalu also had an impressive outing with seven points, three rebounds and six assists.
South Korea’s duo of Park Ji-Hyun and Kang Lee-Seul did the damage to Nigeria with 22 and 20 points respectively.
Nigeria will take on the Philippines in their third game of the qualification series tomorrow as they look to get back to winning.
