The Super Eagles of Nigeria have arrived in Polokwane, South Africa, to begin preparations for their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Lesotho.

With their qualification hopes hanging in the balance, the team is determined to make the most of the decisive fixture later this week.

Eighteen players have reported to camp at The Ranch Hotel, where the team will train at the nearby Peter Mokaba Stadium, the venue for Friday’s clash.

Among the early arrivals are Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, William Troost-Ekong, Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze, Wilfred Ndidi, Calvin Bassey, Moses Simon, and Frank Onyeka.

Goalkeepers Stanley Nwabali, Adebayo Adeleye, and Amas Obasogie are also in camp, alongside Semi Ajayi, Tolu Arokodare, Bruno Onyemaechi, and Benjamin Fredrick, who joined on Tuesday afternoon.

More players, including Zaidu Sanusi, Akor Adams, Alhassan Yusuf, and Olakunle Olusegun, are expected to arrive before full training resumes. The atmosphere in camp is focused and intense, with the coaching staff emphasizing discipline and concentration ahead of what has been described as a make-or-mar week for Nigeria’s World Cup ambitions.

The Super Eagles currently sit third in Group C with 11 points from eight matches and must win both of their remaining games to stand a realistic chance of qualification. After facing Lesotho on Friday, they will return to Uyo to host Benin Republic on October 14 in another high-stakes encounter.
