KRC Genk secured a convincing 2-0 win over Anderlecht in the Belgian Jupiler League on Sunday, thanks to a man-of-the-match performance from Tolu Arokodare.
The Nigerian forward was instrumental in Genk’s victory, scoring a goal and providing an assist to delight the fans at the Cegeka Arena.
Anderlecht had been on a four-game winning streak and were unbeaten since October, but Arokodare’s header in the 29th minute put Genk in front.
This was his 11th league goal in 19 appearances for the Smurfs this season, leaving him just one shy of his overall tally from the previous season.
Arokodare then turned provider, setting up Konstantinos Karetsas for Genk’s second goal in the 72nd minute.
The win takes Genk to 41 points from 19 matches, cementing their position in the league.
