Super Falcons defender Tosin Demehin has completed her move to Portuguese women’s football giants Benfica Feminino, signing a three-year contract that will keep her at the club until 2029.
The Nigeria international joins Benfica as she begins a new chapter in her career, with the move expected to provide another opportunity for her to develop and compete at the highest level of European women’s football.
Speaking after completing the transfer, Demehin described Benfica as “the best club in Portugal and one of the best clubs in the world.”
The defender also expressed her belief that the move will help her improve her performances and continue her development as a player.
Demehin revealed that fellow Super Falcons defender Christy Ucheibe played a role in her decision to join Benfica. Ucheibe, who has represented the Portuguese club, spoke highly of the team during a Super Falcons camp and helped give Demehin a positive impression of life at the club.
The move sees Demehin join a Benfica side that has established itself as one of the leading forces in Portuguese women’s football.
