Super Eagles manager Eric Chelle says he intends to try out new players and different styles of play ahead of the 2025 Unity Cup.
Eric Chelle says he is looking forward to the competition, which will help the team prepare for the remaining fixtures of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
We’re looking forward to taking part in the Unity Cup as it will give us the chance to try out a few new players in different roles, helping us to strengthen our squad before the matches in September and October.
The Super of Nigeria will face rivals, Ghana and Jamaica/Trinidad and Tobago, in the invitational tournament in London this summer.
Captain of the side, William Troost-Ekong, says the Unity Cup is an opportunity for the players to bond and restrategise for the last phase of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
This is a great tournament for us to reunite and continue strategizing for the upcoming World Cup qualifying games,”
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed Super Eagles’ participation in the tournament as the competition returns two decades after its first edition.
Nigeria won the maiden edition in 2004 with victories over Jamaica and the Republic of Ireland.
The Super Eagles will take on Ghana in the first match on 28 May, and Jamaica/Trinidad and Tobago three days later.
All matches will be held at the Gtech Community Stadium – the home ground of Brentford football club, in London.
