La Liga produced an entertaining slate of fixtures on Saturday, headlined by Villarreal’s composed 2–0 win over Valencia at Mestalla.
Gerard Moreno marked his 300th club appearance with a first-half penalty before Santi Comesaña doubled the lead soon after the break. Valencia struggled to threaten and extended their winless run to four matches, while Villarreal’s confidence continues to grow.

In Bilbao, Getafe snatched a valuable 1–0 victory over Athletic Club, with Borja Mayoral netting the decisive goal in the 75th minute. Athletic dominated large spells but couldn’t find a breakthrough against a disciplined Getafe side.

Espanyol also earned a narrow home win, defeating Elche 1–0. Carlos Romero scored early in the second half after Edu Expósito’s clever assist, and despite Elche’s possession advantage, they couldn’t turn control into goals.
The most dramatic contest came in Girona, where the hosts were held 3–3 by Real Oviedo. Oviedo led 2–0 through Federico Viñas and Salomón Rondón before Cristhian Stuani’s two penalties and Azzedine Ounahi’s strike put Girona ahead.

But a stoppage-time equaliser from David Carmo rescued a point for Oviedo in a thrilling finish to the day’s action.
