It was another busy weekend for Nigerian players across Europe, with goals coming from Kelechi Iheanacho, Josh Maja and many other Nigerian stars
Kelechi Iheanacho once again showed his knack for decisive moments, coming off the bench to score twice for Celtic in a dominant Scottish Cup semi-final win over St Mirren.
The Super Eagles forward, fondly called “Senior Man,” turned the game on its head with his brace, sending Celtic into the final in convincing fashion.
In Norway, young forward Kparobo Arierhi added his name to the scoresheet as Lillestrøm SK secured an impressive away win against Vålerenga Fotball. Introduced from the bench, Arierhi capped off the victory with a late goal, showing his growing importance to the side.
There was a bittersweet moment in Spain for Ademola Lookman, who found the net for Atlético Madrid in the Copa del Rey final against Real Sociedad. Despite his goal, Atlético fell short, losing on penalties after a tightly contested encounter.
Back in England, Josh Maja continued his fine form in front of goal, scoring for West Bromwich Albion in an away win over Preston North End. The result lifts West Brom further away from the relegation zone in the EFL Championship, easing pressure as the season enters its final stretch.
In Slovakia, Hilary Gong delivered one of the standout performances of the weekend, registering a goal and an assist for Spartak Trnava in their comfortable home victory over MFK Zemplín Michalovce. His display highlighted both his creativity and attacking threat.
Across different leagues and competitions, Nigerian players continue to play key roles for their clubs, combining experience and youth to deliver crucial goals when it matters most.
