If the Nigerian Super Eagles defeat the Benin Republic Cheetahs in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture in Abidjan on Thursday, they will advance to the 35th edition of the competition
With 10 points, four more than second-place Benin Republic, the Super Eagles are riding high after winning three of their last four games, as they only dropped points during their Matchday 2 match against Rwanda in Kigali.
If they win, Nigeria would almost certainly lead the group going into the final-day games.
However, after their loss in Kigali, the Cheetahs, who now have six points, know they cannot afford to make any more mistakes since they could still be eliminated if they lose their next two games.
Rwanda, who currently have five needs maximum points in their own final two games.
If the Knights defeat the Cheetahs in North Africa on Monday they also still have a chance to surpass Benin Republic.
On Thursday night, the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny will host the game between Nigeria and Benin Republic with kick-off at 8 PM.
