Aston Villa crushed Newcastle 4-1, securing their fifth straight Premier League win and bolstering their chances of Champions League qualification.
Despite the disappointment of a midweek Champions League quarter-final exit to PSG, Unai Emery’s side dominated the second half at Villa Park.

Ollie Watkins opened the scoring in the first minute, but Fabian Schar’s equalizer left the game tied at halftime. Villa’s depth shone through after the break, with substitutes sparking a three-goal blitz in 11 minutes.
Ian Maatsen restored the lead with a well-worked move, Dan Burn’s own goal added breathing room, and Amadou Onana sealed the rout with a stunning curled strike.

The win extends Villa’s unbeaten home streak to 16 matches across all competitions, placing them sixth, just two points behind third-placed Newcastle with five games left.
Villa face a tough trip to fourth-placed Manchester City next, while Newcastle host relegation-bound Ipswich after a week’s rest.
