Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has confirmed that Dutch forward Joshua Zirkzee will not be available for selection ahead of the Europa League return fixture against Lyon.
Joshua Zirkzee sustained an hamstring injury in the 4-1 loss to Newcastle at Saint James’ Park on Sunday evening.
Zirkzee featured for just over 45 minutes before he was assisted off the pitch and replaced by Rasmus Hojlund.
Amorim in a post-match reaction says “I think it’s over” when asked about the extent of Zirkzee’s injury.
Zirkzee has been on a decent run of form in the past few weeks and scored what could have the winner away at Lyon.
Manchester United suffered their 10th Premier League loss under Ruben Amorim since he took charge of the club in November 2024.
The Red Devils will face Lyon in the second leg of the Europa League with Rasmus Hojlund as the only recognized striker in the team given that Chido Obi-Martin is ineligible to play in the competition.
