Chicago Sky forward, Angel Reese etched her name in the history books once again as she joined tennis legend, Serena Williams as the only athletes to win the BET Sportswoman of the Year Award three times.
The honor was bestowed upon her during the 25th BET Awards, held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Reese, 22, claimed the award for a third consecutive year, cementing her status as a powerhouse both on and off the court.
She was nominated alongside an elite group of athletes, including WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson, coaching icon Dawn Staley, tennis star Coco Gauff, Olympic gymnast Simone Biles, and rising basketball phenom Juju Watkins.
This latest recognition highlights Reese’s meteoric rise since her breakout rookie season. During her freshman campaign, she shattered numerous records, including setting the single-season rebound record with 446 and tying the NCAA record for most consecutive double-doubles in a season with nine.
In addition to her WNBA success, Reese made headlines in the inaugural season of the innovative 3×3 basketball league, Unrivaled.
Leading Rose BC to the league’s first-ever championship, Reese delivered the league’s first 20-point, 20-rebound game and was named the Unrivaled Defensive Player of the Year—further evidence of her dominance across formats.
