Arsenal opened a seven-point gap over Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table after the latter dropped points at home to Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night.

Bukayo Saka’s early goal on his 300th appearance for Arsenal made the difference for the Gunners as they tightened their grip on the top spot.

The English winger fired a poor shot towards goal but Dutch goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen made a howler as the ball rolled into the back of the net.

Meanwhile, Manchester City dropped their lead to twice as Nottingham Forest picked up a valuable point at the Etihad in their fight against relegation.

Antoine Semenyo scored his seventh goal for Manchester City to give the hosts the opener after 31 minutes.

Morgan Gibbs-White restored parity three minutes before the hour mark as he latched onto Igor Jesus headed pass.

The equaliser lasted a few minutes as Rodri powered in a header from Rayan Ait-Nouri’s cross to restore Manchester City’s lead.

With 15 minutes left on the clock Elliot Anderson revived a pass from Calum Hudson-Odoi and powered a terrific low drive into the bottom corner to tie the game again.

The match ended 2-2 as Manchester City’s title chase took a hit giving Arsenal a seven-point advantage having played more matches than the former.
