Raffaele Palladino, head coach of Atalanta, has revealed the reason behind Ademola Lookman’s gradual resurgence.
Following his brilliant performance in the UEFA Champions League with a goal and assist, Lookman found the back of the net again over the weekend.
The reigning African Footballer of the Year scored as Atalanta secured a comfortable 2-o win over Fiorentina at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo.
Lookman doubled Atalanta’s lead in the second half after Odilon Kossounou’s opener in the 41st minute.
Ademola Lookman pounced on a rebound from the goalkeeper to register his second Serie A goal of the season.
While speaking to the media, Raffaele Palladino told the media he and Lookman had a one-on-one session just like he did with every player in the squad when he took the job.
“A few words were enough, because he’s an intelligent guy who understands immediately. I was clear, he was very clear with me: we’re going in the same direction because we both want to take Atalanta as high as possible.”
“He’s having a strong offensive phase, but I emphasize his defensive commitment: he’s 100% in the game. I’m happy for his goals; he’s an essential asset.”
Ademola Lookman will look to continue his form with the Super Eagles when the Africa Cup of Nations starts in Morocco starting December 21.
