Rinsola Babajide, the dynamic winger for UDG Tenerife, marked a significant milestone in her football career by making her first start for Nigeria’s Super Falcons, celebrating the occasion with a victory and the presence of her father in the stands.
Having previously represented England at various youth levels, including the U19, U20, and U21 teams, Babajide made the decision to switch her international allegiance to Nigeria in 2023.
She debuted for the Super Falcons on October 25, 2023, coming off the bench in a 1–1 draw against Ethiopia during the 2024 Olympic qualifiers.
She recently featured in the Falcons 2-0 victory over the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta with Rasheedat Ajibade scoring the two goals that made the difference between the two sides.
The match was particularly special as it was the first time her father watched her play live for Nigeria.
Expressing her joy on social media, she shared, “What an overwhelming feeling making my first start in front of my dad 🥹❤️ priceless moments like this last a lifetime 🥰 Grateful to God! Enjoyed playing out there with the team tonight! What a win and great performance from everyone today! Thank you Abeokuta for all the love.”
Babajide’s transition to the Super Falcons has been met with enthusiasm from fans and teammates alike. Her performances at the club level, notably with UDG Tenerife, have showcased her skill and determination, further solidifying her place in the national team setup.
As the Super Falcons continue their campaign in international competitions, Babajide’s contributions are anticipated to play a pivotal role in the team’s success.
