Manchester United have sacked the head coach of its men’s first team Ruben Amorim.

The decision to sack the Portuguese manager comes after a breakdown in relationship between the Chief Executive Officer, Omar Berrada and Director of Football, Jason Wilcox of the club.

Amorim was sacked on Monday morning less than 24 hours after Manchester United’s 1-1 draw away at Leeds United.

Manchester United confirmed the sack of Amorim a statement and mentioned that former midfielder of the club, Darren Fletcher will take charge of the team on the interim.

Ruben Amorim has departed his role as Head Coach of Manchester United.

With Manchester United sitting sixth in the Premier League, the club’s leadership has reluctantly made the decision that it is the right time to make a change. This will give the team the best opportunity of the highest possible Premier League finish.

Manchester United are sixth on the Premier League table with 31 points from 20 matches.

Following Manchester United’s draw at Leeds, Amorim stated that he remains the coach of the club until he gets sacked or at the expiration of his contract.

“I am not going to quit. I am going to do my job until another guy is coming here to replace me. I am going to be the manager of this team, not just the coach. That is going to finish in 18 months and then everyone is going to move on. I came here to be the manager.”
