Ahead of Super Eagles crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Crocodiles of Lesotho, eight Nigerian players must not throw caution to the wind otherwise they might be unavailable for the face-off against Benin Republic on Tuesday.
Any player who receives two bookings from two separate matches is automatically suspended for the next match according to FIFA regulations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification series.
The players who are a yellow card away from being suspended are: Stanley Nwabali (Chippa United), Ademola Lookman (Atalanta) and Bruno Onyemaechi (Olympiakos), Semi Ajayi (Hull City), Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi (both Fulham), Wilfred Ndidi (Besiktas), and Tolu Arokodare (Wolverhampton Wanderers).
Consequently, key starters in Eric Chelle’s line-up like goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, Wilfred Ndidi, Ademola Lookman, Calvin Bassey must avoid picking up yellow cards when they square up against Lesotho.
The Super Eagles will take on the Crocodiles at the Peter Mokoba Stadium, Polokwane on Friday with kick-off set for 5 p.m. Nigerian time.
