Nigerian sprinter Favour Ofili has formally requested to switch her international allegiance to Turkey, citing persistent neglect and repeated administrative failures by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) and the Nigerian Olympic Committee (NOC).

The 22-year-old was excluded from the 100m event at the 2024 Paris Olympics, despite meeting the qualifying standard, due to the AFN and NOC’s failure to register her—an error that echoes a similar administrative blunder that prevented her participation in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Ofili has officially notified the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) of her decision, detailing her frustrations with the Nigerian authorities.
She holds impressive personal bests of 10.93s in the 100m and 21.96s in the 200m, and recently set a 150m world record with a time of 15.85s at the Adidas Atlanta City Games in May 2025.
Turkey is currently conducting extensive recruitment of top international athletes, particularly from Jamaica and countries with less favorable federations.
