Aston Villa’s remarkable Champions League journey concluded in heartbreak as they narrowly missed out on a semi-final berth, despite a thrilling 3-2 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg at Villa Park.

The result saw PSG advance with a 5-4 aggregate score, capitalizing on their 3-1 first-leg advantage.

PSG appeared to have sealed their progression early in the match, with Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes extending their aggregate lead to 5-1.

However, Villa mounted a spirited comeback, ignited by Youri Tielemans’ goal in the 34th minute. Second-half strikes from John McGinn and Ezri Konsa brought the scoreline to 3-2 on the night, leaving Villa just one goal shy of forcing extra time.

Konsa had a golden opportunity to level the tie in the 70th minute but missed a free header, a moment that left manager Unai Emery visibly heartbroken.
