Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner says he has spoken to Chrisantus Uche on his preferred role after joining the club on deadline day.
Uche joined Crystal Palace on a season-long loan from Getafe with an obligation to buy at the end of the season after a brilliant 18-month spell at the Spanish club.
Oliver Glasner admitted that Chrisantus Uche is capable in playing across the three attacking options having played similar roles while at Getafe.
However, having spoken with the 22-year-old midfielder, Glasner says he prefers to play in the number 10 position.
I think he can play all three attacking positions. I also talked to him, and he feels most comfortable in the number 10 position – and that’s also where we see him,” Glasner said at Friday’s press conference
Glasner went on to reveal the reason behind using Uche in the position highlighting his physical prowess and instincts in front of goal.
“With JP and Eddie Nketiah as our number 9s, we were looking for a player who could be a physical presence from the [number] 10.
“That’s similar to Ismaila – he could play as a [number] nine, but we think he’s better when he has the game in front of him and can attack the space.
“That’s what we see with Uche as well. And like with Ismaila, it will take a little bit of time. He’ll get that time, and then he will show up for us.”
Chrisantus Uche is in contention to make his Premier League debut today as Crystal Palace welcome Sundeeland at Selhurst Park.
