Kelechi Iheanacho scored again on Monday evening in Bursaspor’s 2-0 win over Pendikspor to stretch his goalscoring form to 11 consecutive matches in the Turkish First League.
The Super Eagles striker has now scored in every league game since joining Bursaspor as a free agent from Celtic in the summer.
Iheanacho had already become the first player in the history of Turkish professional football to score in 10 successive league matches as he surpassed the nine-game streaks of Metin Oktay and Saffet Sancaklı. His latest goal further stretches the record.
Iheanacho arrived came into the tie against Pendikspor in prolific form. He had scored 14 goals and provided three assists in his first ten league appearances, a haul that made him directly involved in 17 of Bursaspor’s 20 league goals.
A brace in the 3-0 win at Muğlaspor on matchday ten carried him past the previous record. He also eclipsed Fernandao’s club record of eight consecutive scoring games, set in the 2014-15 Süper Lig season.
The run has made Iheanacho the central figure in Bursaspor’s push to return to the Süper Lig, and the former Manchester City and Leicester City forward shows no sign of slowing down.
Iheanacho is the current top scorer in the league with 15 goals from 11 matches so far.
