The Super Falcons of Nigeria will take on the French women’s national football team in an international friendly on Saturday.
The heavyweight clash will take place at the Raymond Kopa Stadium in Angers on Saturday evening.
Super Falcons are set to face a star-studded France team and must be weary of three key players that can cause damage on the night.
1. Eugénie Le Sommer
She is a season campaigner and a veteran in women’s football history. Le Sommer a forward and the all-time highest goalscorer for the national team with 93 goals in 194 appearances – second behind the legendary Sandrine Soubeyrand.
Le Sommer made her debut for the national team on February 12, 2009 in a 2-0 win for France over the Republic of Ireland in an international friendly.
Despite being 35, Le Sommer is a huge threat in the box due to her sleek movements, trickery and positioning.
Should she start on Saturday, Osinachi Ohale, Tosin Demehin and the likes cannot afford to take their eyes off her for a split second.
2. Marie-Antoinette Katoto
The French striker of DR Congo decent is a menace in the box. She is tall, powerful and uses her strenth to great use.
Marie-Antoinette Katoto is arguably the most player in the squad and the most consistent. The 26-year-old has 35 goals in 45 appearnces for the national team.
She grew from the junior teams and has become a mainstay in the national team. Marie-Antoinette Katoto scored 4 goals in 4 matches for France at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics.
Marie-Antoinette Katoto plays for PSG and has scored 7 goals in 8 matches in the league this season.
3. Kadidiatou Diani

Kadidiatou Diani is like the Kylian Mbappe of the team. She is fast and can take on defenders comfortably. She is very good in 1 v 1 and very efficient in tight spaces.
The Lyon wide forward is also an integral part of the national team. She made her debut in 2014 and has been with the team since then.
Diani is nit just a wide forward or winger, she also a potent goalscorer. She has scored 28 times in 108 appearances for the national team.
Her most memorable outing in the colors of the French women’s national team was at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
Diani bagged a hat trick in France’s 6-3 win over Panama in the last match of the group stage.
