Leicester City have finally ended their 11-game winless run in the Premier League.

The Foxes claimed victory over Southampton at the King Power Stadium in a relegation consolation match against Southampton on Saturday afternoon.

Both relegated teams squared up in a send-forth match before returning to the Championship 10 months after gaining promotion.

Club legend Jamie Vardy, who recently announced his departure from the club, put Leicester City ahead 17 minutes into the match.

The 38-year-old got to the end of Bilal El-Khanonouss’ cross into the box and powered a left-footed shot into the roof of the net.

On the flip side, Vardy also performed refereeing duties as helped center referee David Webb get medical attention by blowing his whistle after the latter went down from a collision with Jordan Ayew.

Ghanaian forward, Jordan Ayew doubled the lead just before the break. Ayew pounced on a rebound and powered a shot from the edge of the box into the bottom left corner of the goal.

The Saints struggled to make a meaningful impact in the game as the home side dominated proceedings.

Aaron Ramsdale stopped Jamie Vardy’s attempt to bag a brace from a free-kick with a fine save as he kept ghe scoreline unchanged.

Leicester City secured maximum points and a clean sheet to end their losing streak as they prepare for life in the Championship next season.

Meanwhile, the Foxes are set to end ties with coach Ruud Van Nisterooy at the end of the season as the search for a new coach is reportedly on.

Ruud Van Nisterooy took over from former Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper in November.

Unfortunately, the former Manchester United striker and interim coach failed to rescue the 2016 Premier League champions from returning to the Championship.
