Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye kept his third clean sheet of the season in Udinese’s famous win over league champions, Napoli in the Italian Serie A on Sunday night.
Days after his name was not included in the final squad list for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, the 24-year-old stood in between the sticks for 90 minutes to help Udinese beat Napoli.
Okoye had made just one routine save as the visitors failed to register a shot on target at the Stadio Fruili in Udine.
After the the video assistant referee disallowed two goals in the second half, Dutch midfielder, 25-year-old Jurgen Ekkelenkamp scored the only goal of the game in the 73rd minute.
Ekkelenkamp rifled in a beauty-to-behold goal from the edge of the box to secure maximum points for the hosts. The win is Udinese’s first over Napoli since 2016.
Meanwhile, Inter Milan usurped their eternal rivals at the top.of the table after a 2-1 win over Genoa.
Yan Bisseck and Lautaro Martinez’s first half goals was enough to give the Nerazurri the win as they lead the log with just a point after 15 matches.
AC Milan played out a 2-2 draw at home to Sassuolo at San Siro while Verona extended Fiorentina miserable run in the Serie A with a 2-1 win away from home. Fiorentina are rock-bottom without a win this season.
