Wilfred Ndidi has been named the captain of the Super Eagles ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Ndidi was announced as captain of the three-time African champions following the retirement of William Troost-Ekong.
In a tribute to the former captain, Ndidi described Troost-Ekong as a great leader and someone who always speaks for the team. He added that the defender is someone everyone looks up to.
The announcement also coincides with Wilfred Ndidi’s 29th birthday.
The 29-year-old midfielder says the responsibility of being captain of the Super Eagles means everything to him as he looks to lead the team to their fourth title.
Ndidi has spent 10 years in the national team with 71 appearances.
