Rivers United remain unbeaten in the Nigeria Premier Football League after five matches this season.
Finidi George’s side recorded another home win to to go third on the table with 11 points from five matches with an outstanding match.
The Pride of Rivers hosted Niger Tornadoes at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt on Wednesday evening after securing qualification for the final round of qualification of the CAf Champions League.
As expected, the visitors held their ground as they kept the host at bay for most part of the first half.
The first half ended in a stalemate as Rivers United struggled to breach the defense of Tornadoes.
However, the host got a breakthrough five minutes into the start of the second half through a penalty kick.
Maclyn Biokopo Jenewari steeped up and converted the chance to put Rivers United ahead in the tie.
Rivers United didn’t increase their lead neither did Niger Tornadoes restore parity nor grab a winner as the match ended in favour of the host.
