The Nigeria Premier Football League says it has signed a television deal that would see the league become accessible on free-to-air television and other designated digital platforms.

According to a statement from the league body, the deal is worth N2 billion for five years, with a compulsory upfront payment of N800 million to kick off the deal.

Chairman of the Nigeria Premier Football League, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, says the deal is an indication that the league is moving towards “commercial innovation,” better content management, and wide reach.

The deal, valued at N2 billion, includes a mandatory upfront payment of 800 million as an activation fee — signaling one of the most ambitious financial commitments in the modern era of Nigerian domestic club football.

Under this arrangement, NPFL matches will now become accessible on free-to-air television as well as designated digital platforms — a move expected to dramatically expand audience reach and deepen fan engagement across the country.

Speaking at the formal signing ceremony, NPFL Chairman, Otunba Gbenga Elegbeleye, said the league is deliberately shifting into an era of commercial innovation, content expansion, and wider access.
