Paul Onuachu continued his impressive scoring streak on Sunday, helping Trabzonspor secure a hard-fought 2–1 win away to Çaykur Rizespor in the Turkish Süper Lig.
Trabzonspor made a blistering start, going ahead just two minutes in through Felipe Augusto, who finished off a quick attacking move. Onuachu doubled the lead in the 19th minute with a trademark header, rising above his marker to nod home his seventh league goal of the campaign.
Rizespor hit back eight minutes later when Jesurun Rak-Sakyi capitalised on a defensive lapse to pull one back, setting up a tense contest.
The hosts dominated long spells of the second half and pressured Trabzonspor’s back line, but wasteful finishing and solid defending denied them an equaliser.
The result lifts Trabzonspor to second in the standings and keeps them within touching distance of the league leaders.
Onuachu, now scoring in four straight games, remains central to the team’s title ambitions and is one of the league’s most in-form strikers.
