The Sacramento Kings have secured the future of Nigerian forward Precious Achiuwa, agreeing to a new two-year contract that keeps the versatile big man in Sacramento after an impressive 2025-26 campaign.
Achiuwa, who initially joined the Kings on a one-year veteran minimum deal in November 2025, quickly established himself as one of the team’s most reliable frontcourt players. His energetic performances and defensive versatility made him a key contributor, convincing the franchise to bring him back on a longer-term deal.
The 26-year-old appeared in 73 games last season, making 57 starts while averaging 10.1 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. He also shot an efficient 52.8 percent from the field and earned praise for his ability to defend multiple positions.
Achiuwa’s impact went beyond the numbers. His hustle, rebounding, rim protection and relentless energy helped stabilize the Kings’ frontcourt during a challenging season, making him one of the club’s priority free-agent signings heading into the offseason.
Before free agency opened, reports had indicated that Sacramento was determined to retain the Nigerian international, with insiders describing a reunion as “very likely.” Those expectations have now been realized with the agreement on a two-year deal.
The Port Harcourt-born forward has enjoyed a well-travelled NBA career since being selected 20th overall by the Miami Heat in the 2020 NBA Draft. He has also represented the Toronto Raptors and New York Knicks before finding a home in Sacramento.
