Following their nightmare at the Libyan airport, the Super Eagles players and coaches have returned to Nigeria.

On Monday night, the Nigerian national team’s plane touched down at Kano’s Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, and from there, they boarded another flight to Abuja.

After winning 1-0 in Uyo, Akwa Ibom on Friday, the Super Eagles players were detained at the Al Abaq airport when they arrived for the return leg of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) stated on Monday that the Super Eagles would not be participating in the qualifying match due to the way they were treated.

The disturbing treatment of Nigeria’s Super Eagles at the Libyan airport has prompted the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to open an investigation.

The Super Eagles’ and their coaches’ excessive detention at the Libyan airport was denounced by CAF as disturbing.

The African football governing body disclosed that it had communicated with Nigerian and Libyan officials.

According to CAF, it has reported the issue to its disciplinary board for review and has vowed to take legal action against individuals who broke its rules and laws.
