Super Eagles striker Rafiu Durosinmi has tied the knot with his Belgian-Nigerian sweetheart, Praise Nwanegbo, in a colourful wedding ceremony held in Nigeria.
The 23-year-old forward, who recently completed a move to Pisa Sporting Club, was excused from Nigeria’s camp ahead of the international friendly against Portugal after receiving approval from Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle.
Durosinmi’s absence had initially been attributed to “personal matters” by the Nigeria Football Federation. However, it has now been revealed that the striker left camp to celebrate his wedding with family and loved ones.
The ceremony quickly became a talking point on social media as videos and photos from the celebration surfaced online, with fans and fellow footballers flooding the couple with congratulatory messages.
The wedding caps off what has been a memorable year for the striker. Durosinmi recently made his senior debut for the Super Eagles and was part of the squad that lifted the Unity Cup in London.
The forward was granted permission to leave camp following Nigeria’s entertaining 2-2 draw against Poland in Warsaw. He subsequently missed the team’s trip to Portugal, where preparations continue for Wednesday’s high-profile friendly against a Portuguese side led by Cristiano Ronaldo.
While the Super Eagles focus on their upcoming fixture, celebrations are undoubtedly in order for Durosinmi, who has now added a major personal milestone to an already remarkable year on and off the pitch.
